On behalf of the 1100 physician members of the Fresno Madera Medical Society (FMMS), we welcome you to join our Society and the California Medical Association. FMMS has a proud 125 year history of serving the patients and physicians in our region. Here is the FMMS mission:

The mission of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society is to promote the art and science of medicine, the care and well-being of patients, the enhancement of the public’s health, and the general welfare of the medical profession; to cooperate with organizations of like purpose; and to unite with similar societies in California as component societies of the California Medical Association.

Membership in the local medical society and the state medical association is complimentary to our medical professionalism. Here’s why: Our professional relationship with society-at-large requires that we attend to important obligations and commitments. Many of those are ours as individuals, but others belong to physicians as a group. The health of medical professionalism also requires that society honor certain obligations to us, supporting us as we provide care.

Today, both sides of this professional relationship are in jeopardy and need close attention. Societies like ours and like CMA have a very important role to play in this, but they need our membership support to be effective. Be sure to read FMMS’ monthly publication, Vital Signs, for current and updated information of importance to the profession.
