Historical Committee: The Historical Committee’s collects, preserves and makes available to all members books and items of medical historical interest about the Society and the practice of medicine.
 
Donations of all medically related publications or artifacts are welcome.
 
Recollection's: In 2003 the collected records and data from over 75 personal recollections on society history and regional medical practice, was published as a 300-page reference book. Copies are available by calling 559-224-4224.



Medical Library: 1200 carefully selected historic volumes of medical literature, texts, and histories are in the growing library with full electronic access to many other sources is open to all members of the Medical Societies of the San Joaquin Valley at the FMMS Society Offices, 1040 E. Herndon, Suite 101, Fresno, for pleasure reading, study and research. Hours are 8-4:30 PM Weekdays.  Non members should request access by calling 559-224-4224, ext 118.

Medical Equipment & Artifact Exhibits: Are on display in the Lobby and Museum spaces of the Societies Offices, visitors are welcome.

Speaker's Bureau & School Program: The Committee provides talks and displays concerning the Medical History of many topics, such as Poliomyelitis, Small Pox, Whooping Cough etc, on request and adequate notice. They would be pleased to make appropriate arrangements with any recognized group. Contact Carol Rau Yrulegui at 559-224-4224.

Recollections Order Form

This 376-page volume represents the history of the Fresno-Madera Medical Society, medical care and the people who shaped medicine in Fresno and Madera counties.
 
A ten-year project in the making, "Recollections" contains oral histories of past Medical Society presidents, histories of medical specialties and special reports, collected and edited by the Historical Committee.
 
This is the only publication of its kind, a truly invaluable work that will stimulate many fond memories and serve as a wonderful source of historical information.
